Which Dehumidifier Is Right for You?

Two decisions: capacity against the size of the loss, and whether you need LGR performance or a conventional refrigerant unit will do.

LGR or conventional? A conventional refrigerant dehumidifier works efficiently while the air is still humid, then loses effectiveness as relative humidity drops. An LGR unit pre-cools incoming air so it keeps pulling moisture at low grain depths, which is exactly where a conventional unit stalls. For general humidity control, conventional is fine and cheaper. For restoration where you are drying to a standard and billing by the day, LGR pays for itself in fewer days on site.

Read the two capacity ratings correctly. AHAM is measured at 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 60 percent relative humidity, close to real working conditions. The saturation figure is measured at 90 and 90, and you will only see it in the first hours of a fresh loss. Size from the AHAM rating.
