Which Airpura model is right for my facility?
The right model depends on your primary air quality concern. As a general guide: the R600/R614 is the all-purpose baseline for offices, schools, and facilities without a specific contaminant issue — it handles dust, allergens, mold spores, and general odors. The C600 and C600 DLX are designed for heavy chemical and gas abatement in environments with VOCs, cleaning agents, or off-gassing materials. The F600 and F600 DLX target formaldehyde specifically — ideal for new construction, renovations, or environments with high composite wood or adhesive use. The T600 and T600 DLX are optimized for tobacco and wildfire smoke. The V600 and V814 address broad VOC and toxic chemical loads. The P600, P600+, and P614 add UV photocatalytic (TitanClean) technology for environments requiring enhanced pathogen and chemical control. The UV614 and UV600-W (wall-mount) prioritize germicidal UV sterilization for healthcare, long-term care, and infection-sensitive spaces. Not sure which fits your facility? Call us at 1-877-804-9940 — we can match you to the right unit based on your space and contaminant profile.
What is the difference between the 600 Series and the 614 Super HEPA Series?
The core difference is filtration efficiency at the HEPA stage. Standard 600 Series models use a True HEPA filter rated at 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns — the industry standard for commercial air purification. The 614 Series upgrades to a Super HEPA filter rated at 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 microns, offering measurably higher capture rates for ultrafine particles including bacteria, mold spores, and fine dust. The 614 upgrade is recommended for healthcare facilities, long-term care homes, daycares, laboratories, and any environment where occupant health sensitivity is elevated. Both series share the same airflow rate (560 CFM), carbon filter capacity, and housing — the 614 designation refers specifically to the HEPA filter grade.
What does the "DLX" designation mean on models like the C600 DLX and F600 DLX?
DLX (Deluxe) models include an enhanced or upgraded carbon filter compared to the standard version. For example, the C600 DLX uses a heavier bed of impregnated activated carbon specifically formulated for broader and deeper chemical gas abatement — important in environments with complex VOC profiles. If your facility has high chemical loads, renovation off-gassing, or strong persistent odors, the DLX variant is the stronger choice.
How much square footage does one Airpura unit cover?
All 600 Series Airpura units are rated for up to 2,000 sq ft at 2 air changes per hour (ACH) and up to 1,050 sq ft at 4 ACH, based on 8-foot ceilings. For standard office and institutional environments, 2 ACH is the baseline. For healthcare settings, infection control applications, or spaces with elevated contaminant loads, 4 ACH is recommended — which effectively halves the coverage area per unit. For larger open-plan spaces, multiple units running simultaneously are the standard approach. Contact us for a multi-unit quote.
Are Airpura units suitable for 24/7 continuous operation?
Yes. Airpura units are engineered specifically for continuous 24/7 operation in commercial and institutional settings. The sealed motor/fan assembly, separate electrical chamber, and all-metal housing are designed to handle sustained run times without performance degradation. Variable speed control allows facilities to run units at lower speeds during off-hours to reduce noise and energy consumption while maintaining baseline air filtration.
What filtration stages do Airpura units use?
All Airpura 600 Series units use a multi-stage filtration system. Stage 1 — Pre-Filter: A 570 sq in polyester pre-filter traps large particles (dust, lint, hair, dander) and extends the life of downstream filters. Stage 2 — Activated Carbon Filter: An 18 lb bed of activated carbon (2 inches thick) adsorbs chemical vapors, VOCs, gases, and odors. The specific carbon blend varies by model — standard, impregnated, German carbon, or potassium iodide-infused depending on the target contaminant. Stage 3 — HEPA or Super HEPA Filter: 40 sq ft of pleated filtration media capturing 99.97% (True HEPA) or 99.99% (Super HEPA 614) of airborne particulates down to 0.3 microns. Models with UV germicidal capability add a fourth stage — an 18W UV lamp that destroys the DNA of airborne pathogens passing through the unit.
What is TitanClean photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology?
TitanClean is Airpura's proprietary photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology, used in the P600, P600+, P614, and P814 series. A UV light activates a titanium dioxide (TiO₂) catalyst, creating hydroxyl radicals that chemically break down VOCs, bacteria, viruses, and mold at a molecular level — destroying contaminants rather than simply trapping them. This is particularly effective for facilities dealing with persistent chemical odors, biological contaminants, or environments where standard carbon filtration reaches its limits. TitanClean models are well-suited for fitness centres, long-term care facilities, and spaces with complex contamination profiles.
What is the difference between HEPA 99.97%, HEPA Barrier 95%, and Super HEPA 99.99%?
These refer to the filtration efficiency at the particle size most difficult to capture (0.3 microns). HEPA Barrier 95% provides strong filtration for general commercial use at a lower resistance, suited for environments with moderate particulate loads. True HEPA 99.97% is the global standard for air purification and captures the vast majority of allergens, mold spores, bacteria, and fine dust. Super HEPA 99.99% (614 Series) offers the highest available filtration grade in the Airpura lineup — the practical choice for healthcare environments, facilities serving immunocompromised populations, and any application where exceeding standard HEPA performance is a procurement requirement.
How often do Airpura filters need to be replaced?
Filter replacement intervals under normal commercial operating conditions are: Pre-filter — approximately every 12 months (can be vacuumed through the grille to extend life between replacements). Activated carbon filter — approximately every 24 months, though this varies significantly based on contaminant load. Facilities with heavy chemical exposure or persistent odors may require more frequent replacement. HEPA or Super HEPA filter — every 3 to 5 years. UV germicidal lamp (UV models only) — approximately every 18 to 20 months (15,000 hours of operation). Because Airpura filters are sold individually rather than as bundled packs, facilities only replace the filter that has reached end-of-life — reducing ongoing maintenance costs compared to systems that require full filter set replacements.
Can we purchase replacement filters through FacilitySupplyPro?
Yes. As an authorized Airpura dealer, we carry replacement filters for all models we sell. Contact us at 1-877-804-9940 or info@facilitysupplypro.com to confirm availability and pricing for your specific model and filter type. We recommend establishing a filter replacement schedule at the time of purchase to simplify ongoing facility maintenance.
Does the unit require professional installation or servicing?
No professional installation is required. Airpura units arrive fully assembled with all filters pre-installed — unbox, position, and plug in. Units are freestanding on caster wheels for mobility, or can be wall-mounted using the optional wall mount bracket (UV600-W is designed specifically for wall mounting). Filter replacements are designed to be performed by facility maintenance staff without tools or technical training.
Do you offer volume pricing for multi-unit orders?
Yes. For facilities ordering multiple units — whether for a single large space, a multi-floor building, or a portfolio of properties — contact us directly for volume pricing. Call 1-877-804-9940 or email info@facilitysupplypro.com with your unit count and model preferences and we'll provide a custom quote. Quote requests can also be submitted through the Quote Requests button above.
Where should an Airpura unit be positioned in a facility space?
For optimal performance, position the unit in a central location within the target space, away from walls and obstructions, to allow unrestricted 360° air intake. Airpura units draw air in at the base and exhaust filtered air from the top, so ensure at least 12 inches of clearance above the unit. In open-plan environments, a centrally placed unit will outperform a corner placement. For spaces larger than 2,000 sq ft, multiple units distributed throughout the space are more effective than a single oversized unit. The UV600-W wall-mount model is available for environments where floor placement is not practical.
Can Airpura units be used in spaces with existing HVAC systems?
Yes. Airpura units operate independently of HVAC infrastructure — they are standalone, portable air purification systems that supplement (rather than replace) existing ventilation. This makes them particularly valuable in older buildings where upgrading HVAC filtration is not feasible, in spaces with poor duct distribution, or in targeted areas within a larger facility that require enhanced air quality (e.g., a healthcare reception area, a wellness room, or a nursing station).
